Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of low temperate and GA©ý application on the growth and flowering of Hanabusaya asiatica Nakai. Plants were treated with 4 levels of low temperature durations, 3 levels of GA©ý concentrations and 4 levels of spray times. In the first year, as the duration of low temperature was extended, days to shoot emergence was shortened and plant height was increased. 1fie highest number of flowers was observed when the low temperature treatment was extended for 30 days. In the second year, there were no significant differences in the growth and flowering characteristics of Hanbusaya asiatica according to different low temperature treatments. Plants applied with GA©ý were able to produce new shoots, flower stalks and flowers during even the first year. Higher concentration of GA©ý (1000 §·¡¤L^(-1)) induced the earlier flowering and increased number of flowers per plant. Two or more applications of GA©ý at the concentration of 200 §·¡¤L^(-1) were effective to break dormancy of Hanabusaya asiatica. Therefore, low temperature period than 20 days or application of GA©ý could be effective to break the dormancy of Hanbusaya asiatica.
